Queen's Nurse Heather is an entrepreneur, poet, author, social innovator and health policy influencer. She chaired New NHS Alliance, which influences national health strategy and policy on health inequalities, for over 2 years.
She is a former general practice nurse and director of primary care. Heather practises a social model of public health, inventing and co-producing solutions with local people. Based on her own severe asthma as a child, her latest innovation is BreathChamps: Where children, families and communities learn and share asthma knowledge in fun ways.
In 2018 she won the Sue Pembrey Award for person and community centred care and in 2016 Heather received the Open University Business School Alumnus Award for her 'Outstanding Contribution to Society'.
